Two shall become One ~ Tuesdays ~ Our Calling

Sue over at Praise and Coffee is sharing an awesome devotion for Two shall become One! She is working through “Created to be His Help Meet.” By Debi Pearl and sharing her journey as she goes! The last two weeks have really spoken to me & I look forward to reading through her journey as she shares!

Last week Sue shared her “Part One” of this journey which focuses on so many different Scriptures:

This Scripture is the focus of her entire study!
Titus 2:3-5
3 Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good.
4 Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children,
5 to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.

Sue instructs… We can break that down into 8 instructions:
That they may teach the young women:
1. to be sober,
2. to love their husbands,
3. to love their children,
4. To be discreet,
5. chaste,
6. keepers at home,
7. good,
8. obedient to their own husbands

If you are a wife, your #1 calling is to be your husband’s helper.

Heb 13:4
4 Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled

But for Adam no suitable helper was found.
21 So the LORD God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and closed up the place with flesh.

We are called to be our husband’s helpmeet… we are suitable. We need to make sure that we’re not being a shrew – a scolding wife. Wives, keep these Scriptures in mind to help deal with any bitterness you may be holding onto:

It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house”
Proverbs 21:9 KJV

A continual dripping on a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike
Proverbs 27:15

Take the time needed in prayer and quiet time with God… focusing on what type of wife He wants you to be!

This week our focus is: To Love Their Children

We need to make sure we’re being the example God wants us to be; by loving our husband and training up our children as He calls us to!

• Share His Word with our children daily
• Don’t argue with your husband – discuss the situation(s) at hand; yelling rarely gets us anywhere
• Help our children learn from wisdom and discipline
• Be diligent in all that we do
• Speak words that are helpful for building others up, of encouragement
• Encourage the young to be self-controlled
• Speak the truth
• Be a faithful witness
• . . .
• As Sue shares: “Look into your child’s eyes and smile many times each day.”
