Trying to catch up on my posts to continue to share SHMILY Time with you and a group of women on Facebook, and thankful for Amy’s continued guidance & updates at Dandelion Seeds while reading through The Power of a Praying Wife by Stormie OMartian.

Day 15: His Reputation

Honestly, I never thought of praying for my husband’s reputation; but it makes perfect sense as we should pray without ceasing regarding everything. We need the protection of the Father in every circumstance of our life, especially our reputation.

Stormie points out “that prayer is our only defense” (p.121) while our husbands, & us for that matter, still have free will and can make the wrong choice going his own way and get into trouble. (p.122)

Take the time to read through Amy’s post regarding His Reputation as we wives need to make sure we’re not ruining our husbands reputation by what we share regarding him. I agree with Amy when she shared that we need to check the motive in our heart as to why we’re sharing. I have one friend, my prayer warrior, that I share everything with regarding my marriage. But it’s not done out of spite or wanting her to be on my side… I share for her

  • guidance, as she’s been in my shoes,
  • prayers,
  • real-ness; as she won’t let me continue to gripe, she helps me look at my husband in a different way to help me through each situation. The way God would want me to look at him.

There are a few (three) other women/men that I speak to regarding different situations in my marriage. But my husband knows who I share with & understands its best for our marriage to help me turn around.

Lord, I lift up Dave to You asking for protection over his reputation. Help him to choose the right way (and me too) and choose godly friends, so no disparaging words are spoken of him. If either of our reputations have been ruined in any we we ask You Father to redeem our reputation & trust/thank that You can restore our good name. I praise You Father for your protection regarding our reputation & am sorry for not praying in the past specifically for this part of us. I ask for Your continued protection of our reputation. Help me to remain (BE) a virtuous (good) wife and to know how to pray for Dave, so he’ll continue to receive the respect he deserves. Draw Dave closer to You, helping him to be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit so he may choose Your way. I pray Psalm 17:8,9 over us both

and protection from destruction. In Jesus’ name, amen.
